Inpatient Services

North Star Recovery Center treats patients in correspondence with the current American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria for Level 4.0 (Medically Managed Intensive Inpatient Withdrawal).

Withdrawal Management (detoxification) is designed for individuals that are likely to experience severe withdrawal symptoms.  According to the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Administration, detoxification is “a set of interventions aimed at managing acute intoxication and withdrawal.”

Withdrawal is the process of the body eliminating drugs or intoxicants, resulting in symptoms that need to be managed, to ensure an individual’s well-being.

Our experienced doctors, nurses, and direct care specialists work with patients to begin the path to long term recovery.  Medically managed withdrawal management seeks to stabilize the patient with 24 hour medical care and supervision; providing comfort and caring support to our patients.

Comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and discharge planning are completed during this process and guides the patient to the most appropriate level of individualized ongoing care.

The severity of the withdrawal management process varies according to:

  • Individual’s body composition & metabolism

  • Drug/Dosage that was being used

  • How long the drug has been taken

  • Other addictions involved

Since detox for certain individuals and substances can be potentially severe-and in some cases, deadly, it is NOT advised for individuals to detox on their own at home.
