Job Summary

The Wellness Assistant provides care  to their members throughout the life span by carrying out instructions and/or utilizing procedures as delegated by the Department Team Leader or their designate and according to instructions as stated in the Rehab/Hospital policy/procedure manual. He/She is responsible for performing their duties in a manner conducive to their safety and ability.


  • Education
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • CPR trained: will train if necessary
    • Must complete basic skills checklist
  • Job Knowledge
    • Ability to develop individualized exercise programs based on personal goals and current fitness/health fields for members.
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of general customer safety issues.
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of the procedures and techniques required for the competent performance of the wellness assistant duties at Health Works.
    • Ability to detect and report obvious and/or dangerous changes in customer’s condition

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Take and log customer payments.
  • Knowledgeable in and follows all department policies and procedures related to specific job title.
  • Assist clients with cardiovascular and weight training equipment.
  • Answers phone calls in a timely manner.
  • Schedules massage appointments and inform therapists of any cancellations.
  • Monitor client vital signs via blood pressure and pulse oximeter.
  • Greet visitors, clients, and their families coming in to inquire about any Health Work’s services.
  • Maintain customer information in accordance with HIPPA standards.
  • Interact and communicate with others in a way that promotes a positive and cooperative work environment.
  • Assume responsibility for personal job performance and tasks delegated by the Supervisor.
  • Monitor and record equipment defects
